OK here I go again.
I don't believe that anyone mentioned that back in the day many people marched from 6 to 21. They went from Class C to B to A or Division I. There were so many more corps and sponsors and you could barely keep up with the shows every week all summer.
Some people don't even try out until 17 or 18, and they may not make it the first time or there are too many people trying out. Back then by 16 people were burnt out in some cases.
For selfish reasons if I could go back, I would have marched 1981, gone with Zingali 82 & aged out in 83 at 24. Too old I think! Although in my case I wouldn't have missed much, I had been working full time since 16 and work knew the corps was the most important thing to me.
So, after all that, I think it's a bad idea although we had 11 to 21 year olds some years and 13 to 21 others. Some people that were 16 were dating 20 year olds and are now married, however I was quite naive as to what was going on even at 21. We didn't have male/females buses, only sections on the way to maybe prelims and finals....
Yep, nowadays, a bad idea, even back then, nope!
I get a long rant after not being on here that much...
