Hello fellow drum corps fanatics!
I am a junior at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville), and drum corps has been in my blood all of my life. Amazingly (and to my everlasting shame) I've never marched, due mostly to financial and time constraints. I do, however, play the trombone (go low brass, yeah!). My exposure to the drum corps activity came from my parents, who have been involved to a greater or lesser extent since the stone age (no joke, really). I was raised on 1980's Cadets: my first hearing of West Side Story was the '84 show, and it wasn't until years later that I finally got around to seeing the musical! Oh, and the finale to '87 "Appalachian Spring" always brings tears to my eyes. These days, however, because of my ardent opposition to most forms of amplification, I find myself in love with Phantom's productions (Apasionada, Rhapsody, Faust, all wonderful), and the Cavies aren't bad either 8-)
My favorite show of all time is without a doubt '87 Cadets, but '95 Cavaliers is up there, as is '96 PR....really, there have been so many five star performances, it's almost impossible to pick one...that's what I love about the activity.
I'll be in Madison this year (first Finals since 1997, and I am stoked), and it'd be great to get together with some of you guys. I've read several of the Sound Machine threads, and this site seems to be THE place on the net for drum corps fans. I'm thrilled to be a member, and I look forward to connecting in the future.

Cheers,
John LaMacchia

Hmmm, I guess this proves you didn't have to march back in the day to be truly enlightened.

Welcome, doctor john.
