Well, to me it is still running a little slow. The techs at Pegasus Web Technologies finallly admitted to me that they found a problem with the server that hosts this website. They said they are working on fixing it. I think the problem is that I open this hosting account about 4 years ago and the server is just becoming obsolete. They have purchased many new servers and are putting new customers on those, but the old customer's websites have not been moved over to any of the newer equipment yet. They have not been upgrading the old servers as regularly as they used to. So I think they getting booged down. I guess I should think about moving this website to a newer server. Not like I really have the time to do it. If I do move it, look for the forum to be turned off for a day or two so we don't lose any postings or other data during the move.

Well, while it is still slow (not as bad though), now I am not able to use the "View Posts Since Last Visit" function and the unread posts are not marked with the yellow icon. I have made no changes to my cookie settings or anything else for that matter.

Well, I got another response from the folks at Pegasus:

Quote:
(about the servers) It's not that our "techs can't figure out how to fix them" it's that they're old, overworked, running outdated software in many cases and just suffering from the combined burden of those things AND a LOT of customers.

So, it looks like we'll be moving to a new server next week. Things will run MUCH better, but look for the forum to be off line for a couple of days while we switch the name server information at Network Solutions (the company that controls domain names). I don't want any postings to the old server while the new server is waiting to kick into action.

If there is anything we can do, let us know.

Thanks Dave for getting to the "root" of the problem.

Is it me....or are we having problems with slow response times today? I had time to file my nails waiting for the page to come up only to be told "Website not responding."
Sometimes when I post, I get the same message and think Oh no, I've lost my post.

:D /RH grooving on mental image of Malibu filing nails and popping gum while waiting for webpage to come up...

No, it's not just you, it is slow for me today, too. Response time has been very inconsistent for the last week. I think Pegasus tried to fix some things to keep Dave happy and onboard but it's not always working. And that "Website not responding" message is responsible for some though not all of the double posts I keep deleting. Some people assume their submissions didn't go through and put them through a second time. But sometimes the server just happily posts one submission two times without even being asked-- it's happened to me at least once.
