Micro Marching League

If you can name it... you can discuss it here (except politics & religion)! Just keep it clean, OK?

Micro Marching League

Post by Hostrauser » Mon Dec 10, 2007 5:08 pm

Those of you on DCP may have already seen this.

Micro Marching League

Design your own drills for fun. Simple interface, easy to learn (tough to master). And mighty, mighty addictive.

A few of my first couple "newbie" attempts...
MICRO MINI: http://www.micromarching.com/show.php?showID=1075
METRICS: http://www.micromarching.com/show.php?showID=1189

I have another show called "Henhouse" that's my best attempt so far, but I can't find the link for it right now...

"Micro Mini" probably only took an hour. Once you start getting the hang of it and attempting more and more difficult maneuvers, yeah, it takes a long time (and you can't save and come back to it later).

I spent about three hours (off and on) working on one last night (granted, only about 50% of my attention, since I was doing other things). It was inspired by SCV's "Pathways" show of a few years back. In my haste, I saved it as "Untitled" by "Anonymous".

I don't know if it's my best one yet, but I liked a lot of the things I did in it.

Some very good stuff done so far. Those corps with so-so drills should take a look for some ideas.

Well, this program has taught me one thing...

I HAVE NO PATIENCE!!!!!!

Has anyone here ever used a professional drill writing program? I'm sure they have progressed in quality and ease of use over the years.

Personally, I prefer the old days when drill writing was typically done on an Etch-A-Sketch.

HENHOUSE: http://www.micromarching.com/show.php?showID=1386

So named because I pessimistically thought much of it was like chickens running around with their heads cut off. Well, and also for the "egg" drill that appears in the middle.

I think this might be my best one due to my relatively competent use of curves. Whatever.

Haven't had time to play around with this yet, but can the finished product be shown at a smaller speed?

Unfortunately no. There's a lot of mods being discussed on the game's forums, but the current version is pretty limited. The only way to control speed/slow down is to have one section cover a short distance while another section (even one person) covers a long distance.

I really like several elements in this show. Specifically, the half breakdowns of the full circle, the chevron flowing out the bottom, and the development of the final formation, which is beautifully curvacious and reminiscent of filagree!! Great job!!

(Hopefully you'll understand my descriptions)

I do.

They have updated the site. Now you can register to vote on shows.

ALSO

They also added a whole bunch of shortcuts, and now you can save as you go along. EXCELLENT.
