Death of SM?

If you can name it... you can discuss it here (except politics & religion)! Just keep it clean, OK?

Death of SM?

Post by WE ARE SPARTACI » Mon Mar 23, 2009 3:35 pm

It's almost April and this MB is quieter than I have ever seen it. Has everyone migrated to DCP or is it the absence of Hostrauser and his periodic contentious submissions that makes it seem quieter?
What, it should be Spartacuses??

From what I see, DCP doesn't have the traffic it once did either.

Don't worry, the season will be here before we know it and the Hopkins bashing will start up again.

I have not been on dcp in months, and not sure if I will go back. The mods there don't do the best job, imo. Way too many discussions get dominated by 5 or 6 people on the forum and turn into pointless (at least to most) drivel.

As far as sm, I know this sounds harsh, but Kevin's absence actually encourages me to come back and check daily, or close to it. He is responsible for running off at least 4 members that used to frequent the board.
Just because your hate is masked by "free thinking" or being "open-minded" does not make it right.

Right now I'm at the end of winter/indoor guard season. Our circuit (AIA) championships is this coming weekend. I've been trying to get my girls ready as well as doing everything else I do.

BTW, is Kevin on vacation or something?

Kevin is still around, and I'm sure he still comes by and checks out the forums. It's probably just the fact that their isn't much discussion at all going on here...

I don't think so. When was the last time Kevin missed a Happy Birthday thread?

That and Kevin didn't wait for a discussion thread to start to say something. He started a lot of the threads.

Hope he is doing well.

There are also questions in life in which we must agree to disagree & move on. These problems will not be solved in our short lifetime. I find it amazing we eill talk & argue about Corps all the time & most of America don't even know what it is............................Bill

I've been so busy writing, teaching, and being a parent. Haven't had much time for Sound Machine, but will again! :D

I'm sure it will pick up again when the new season rolls around. There are a lot of posters that have gone a big AWOL along with Kevin that I'm sure we'll see again in the next few months. There just isn't frankly too much to talk about when all we know are show titles and songs.

Gee, with Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, eBay and countless blogs is it any wonder that people don't have the time to participate that they used to have. I know I don't have the time I used to have to hang out here. Since my dad died my brother and sister and I are running our family business. Plus I am playing in two community bands and am now back teaching a youth band again. That's why it took so long to getting around to upgrading the forum.

Kevin asked me to remove him as a moderator a while back and I ignored his request. So I think it is his way of sending me a message that he means it. So I just removed him from the moderating team. Maybe now he will be willing to mix it up again. Remember that many of you gave him a hard time for his views, some didn't think a moderator was allowed to have independent views. And now you are missing it. :oops2: Even though I totally disagree with many of his positions I enjoyed the banter.

Any of you out there Star Trek fans? Remember Captain John Luke Picard? Kevin reminds me so much of the character "Q". His uncanny intellect always got the best of Picard. Such annoyance was he but at the same time could be very helpful in a strange way. :jedi:
