Are you referring to his interview which aired last night on the national news as well as released in major newspapers and online? He is focused on racism concerning attitudes related to President Obama.

Read the news...Carter backs up my observation without any help.

Carter: Wilson comments 'based on racism'

It's called race baiting. Disagree with Obama and you're automatically a racist. It doesn't hurt the target as much as it implies there is a race-based motive to certain statements or actions which helps to foster a resentment from the group being baited. It really is an attempt to mainpulate a group based on race which could be considered racist on its own.

I'll take that as a yes. Actually if you read Dowd's article in this past weekend's New York Times we begin to see that this becomes a more complex issue. Although I don't quite agree with the cause and effect, when you have an important political figure who polarizes to one direction, particularly in tough economic times, you get polarization in the opposite direction. That's where some of the racism can come into play.

Do I think that much of the healthcare backlash is race related, no, at least not in most cases (I'm sure there are some out there who's racial prejudice drive there attitudes about any and all issues though). I think that is taking it too far. But the mindless SC rep shouting 'liar', well there may be some justification there. I mean, this guy pushed a state bill to have the Confederate flag flown outside the state courthouse.

I do wish everyone, on both sides, would move on from this idiots outburst....time to get to the issues. He made a fool of himself...check...done. I think Obama has moved on, the rest should follow.

Yeah, it was adding insult to injury. We'll take it off the dome of our capital building and put it in front with a memorial and fancy lighting all in the name of *sniff* "Southern heritage." You can go down the main street in Columbia and see it now. :frust:

Every thought that is not socially progressive is considered to be based in bigotry nowadays, or it is the result of a lack of intelligence. If you're anti-tax, you're mocked as a "teabagger." Pro-life? You're a male chauvinist. Pro-family? You hate gay people. Don't like big government? You're a capitalist pig that only cares about the bottom line of corporate America. I would, however, like to see people refrain from making Hitler posters. Bush and Obama have done nothing that can be compared to Hitler's evil.

The major racists in the current situation are the democrats in power. They want total control and any one who does not cow to their whims is instantly a "racist" and needs to be "re-educated" into the perfect mind-numbed socialist. If we do not stop this garbage spewing from D.C., we will be condemned to an eternity of slavery to "big brother". I am just glad that one of the greatest strengths of this country is that the government cannot do anything quickly. This may give us the edge to stop this mindless march into socialism.

Usually on this board I can find something I agree with, or at least understand, in any particular post. But this one, not one sentance...notta one. Oh well... Talk about exaggerated statements,

This is what I mean about polarization when a President or leader moves, perhaps, a little too far in a direction to the point of significant discomfort for a larger group of people. Polarity in one direction causes polarity in another direction. Guess what? He got the message on the health care reform issue. There isn't any chance for a public option passing as part of a health care reform plan at this point.

As far as how fast the government can move, all I can say is ACORN lost their Census Bureau Relationship and their support for funding in one week.
