It's a season of Close Scoring

Post by rysa4 » Mon Jul 27, 2015 4:45 pm

So how bout this past weekend? Crown showing up, bypassing Cadets and Blue Devils. Cadets will unveil their new flags this weekend - here's to a GE boost for them!

I had the pleasure of watching SCV this past Tuesday & Wednesday as they stayed here in town. They changed about 2 1/2 minutes of their show so I'm sure their score was reflected in those changes.
Was really shocked that Cadets did away with their "traditional" uniforms! I guess in order to play with the big boys you got to dig a little deeper!

Very excited to see how this week turns out! 1st place is really up in the air right now. I'd love to see Crown or Bluecoats take it this year - just love both of their shows.

Supposedly the Bluecoats could not use their sync last night, which is the meat of their show, but still scored well. How can that be,if true?

Interesting! I'd like to think that any of the top four corps could take the win in Indy. It may come down to a matter of who judges really. Some judges just separate the top corps by a tenth here or a tenth there whereas other judges widen the gaps a bit. I still think Cadets have the best drill, but maybe not the cleanest ( it IS the hardest). Crown has the hornline and color guard. BD is strong in many areas as well. I also really enjoyed SCVs show this year.

Here is the judging panel for finals:

World Championship Finals — Saturday, Aug. 8

General Effect 1: Michael Stone, Mickey Kelly
General Effect 2: Glenn Fugett, Ken Turner
Visual Performance: Juno Orefice
Visual Analysis: Tim Ochran
Color Guard: Marie Czapinski
Brass Performance: Paul McGarr
Music Analysis: Jay Kennedy
Percussion: Jeff Prosperie
Percussion 2: Caleb Rothe
Chief Judge: John Phillips

So which corps has the advantage? Or is it just a matter of individual corps performance?

I'm pulling for Crown to take 1st this year. Their program is just so enjoyable from top to bottom - the music/brass are amazing, guard over-the-top-crazy good (soooo much equipment work!), percussion IMO is great....just so powerful!

The Blue Devils to me should be in 4th. I just don't see how this year's show/performance is scoring where it is. The guard dances so much (there is not much difficulty in the whole KPop thing), so much scatter drill. They do sound great and I love some pieces of the music. The story is so Cadets '06 (or whatever year they had the girl and the door).

Love Bluecoats but I'd put them 2nd. Really appreciate the difficulty of Cadets but for me, this should be in 3rd.

My 2 cents!
