Guard was great, drums were great, drill was great, brass was... okay.

Seriously, the hornline wasn't bad, but with the unbelievable hornlines Star, Phantom and BD had that year, the Cavaliers' brass kinda paled in comparison.

I agree. Star mid voices were ridiculously good. They earned every bit of their win. The thing I like about the Cavies' show is the look into the future. You can see the championship formula unfolding.
