1 Phantom Regiment 91.000
2 Blue Stars 83.950
3 Spirit from JSU 82.050
4 Madison Scouts 80.150
5 Pacific Crest 79.350
6 Pioneer 73.650

Looks like the Blue Stars have found another gear. Just last weekend Madison was within a point of them. The Kids from God's Country have improved their score 3.5 points since Indy. That's quite a week.

And the Colts low score at another show concerns me. The kids from Dubuque looked like a Finals lock a week or two ago. But as of Thursday they're less than a point from dropping out of the Top 12.

Hostrauser's "Ordinal" Rankings as of 8/3/07:
1. The Cadets
2. Blue Devils
3. The Cavaliers
4. Bluecoats
5. Carolina Crown
6t. Phantom Regiment
6t. Santa Clara Vanguard
8. Blue Knights
9. Boston Crusaders
10. Glassmen
11. Colts
12. Blue Stars
-----------------------
13. The Academy
14. Spirit from JSU
15. Crossmen
16. Madison Scouts
17. Seattle Cascades
-----------------------
18. Pacific Crest
19. Southwind
20. Troopers
21. Mandarins
22. Pioneer

I wonder how much these will change by Monday, my last rankings of the season.

No more than one or two positions at this time of year. Other than 3rd to 1st or 14th to 12th, I don't consider two positions a lot. Especially when the score difference is tenths.

Nor do I. What I meant was the quantity of separate flip-flops, not the distance covered. For example, if BD switches spots with The Cadets, Bluecoats with the Cavaliers, Colts with the Glassmen, The Academy with Blue Stars, Madison with Crossmen, Pacific Crest with Cascades, and Troopers with Southwind (all at least within the realm of feasibility) that would be a LOT of movement; even if no corps was moving more than a placement spot in either direction.

Reminds me of the old POW joke about the "good news" of an change in underwear - you change with him, John changes with Joe, etc.

I understand your point now, but even that type of movement would not excite me, because in most cases we're taking tenths of points. Any corps moving up/down three or more slots from Thursday to Saturday while gaining/dropping three or more points would get my attention.

As tight as the spreads have been all season, a gain or loss of three or more points would be a seismic shift (Seeing as the championships are in California, the word seismic seems appropriate!).
