Sorry Michael, but your sentence ran a bit long. What they did was FANTASTIC period. None of the other qualifiers are really necessary. I think he was referring to their demeanor anyway.

Very true, but that goes both ways. Difficulty in those days was in the extreme level of execution that they achieved. Also the equipment was more substantial and difficult to maneuver. Now, guards are more versed in dance and many of the moves are decidedly not unison (even some that are designed to be), but more expressive in nature. I don't think it is fair to minimize the difficulty of what those guards did back then. Also, I would not consider any guard to be badass today. They may be many good things, but they are not badass. You can't have dudes in eyeshadow and call them badasses (unless they are Marilyn Manson). :wink:
