A somewhat interesting year for percussion judging. Phantom has pretty much consistently been judged by almost all judges as the best line out there, and I pretty much agree with them.
BD beat them once. And Bluecoats I think won drums over Phantom once as well.
The interesting dynamic to me this year is how high the judges will score a surprisingly good line in the Blue Stars this year, and how low they will score a surprisingly mediocre drum line this year - Crown.
What happens in this category isn't going to change who wins DCI or who finishes in the top 12. But it will change the placement of the Blue Stars and their closest competitors and it will change Crown's placement with the Cadets.
Prediction; the judges in quarter finals and semis will accurately score and reflect the performances of the drum lines on the field as mentioned above. Watch for the recaps and check it out.
The finals percussion judge may not -- as an opinion, and mine only, I feel that the finals percussion judge has taken some subjective liberties in the past not supported by the actual performances on the field. But ya never know. Let's all wait and see.
Congrats to Blue Stars on having a great and most improved line of the year.
