Music for the Kids

Post by SCVBaritone » Sat Mar 25, 2006 7:52 pm

What a class act. My wife Sharon and I traveled to SF Friday nite to watch a performance of Chris Botti and all time great David Sanborn. The show was awesome, but unlike venues I attended in the past there was a effort primarily by Chris Botti to reach the kids and through efforts by PBS and Mr Botti a fund raiser afforded a chance for HS music student to have private lessons from Botti himself. He mentiond his concerns for the dwindling support for quality musical examples in the media like jazz and classical music as a benchmark for kids instead of MTV. At that show a student practice session with Chris Botti was awarded to a promising brass player. PBS will be broadcasting Botti in the near future.Pretty good stuff from a kid from Portland,Oregon.
