Least liked prop from 83 on

Now we get into such variety. So many times the pieces work, but sometimes it goes over the top as people have mentioned.

Gosh, I remember all of those hideous props. OY VEY! I voted for the tires, for this is drum corps, not NASCAR. I suppose the Price is Right taxi is a close second! The commas worked, but what's wrong with a good ol' rifle? It's not like they shoot each other. We've had no mass carnage on the field since Troopers 2000.

Tires seem very unpopular - who used them? And what do you mean by cabs?
I think the people who voted 'other' should really post a message saying what it is. Other props I can think of are:
Cavies red balls in The Planets Suite (83?) - 'you should get some talc for that problem son'
SCV umbrellas
SCV leaf-things in Miss Saigon
Cadets 'boxing-ring ropes' in 86 - kinda worked, kinda didn't.
BD feather boas (probably pre-83 - why the cut-off date LancerFi?)
Star of Indiana - big hamster wheels for the guard
Alliance - trampolines that I keep asking about but no-one wants to tell me anything about
I pretty much liked all of the above (apart from the trampolines which remain a mystery) and I'm having a hard job thinking of ones I didn't like. I think in general I don't like those props that are undescribable, can be used like regular equipment but are a lot more limited (eg. an 'L' shape and someone some year had a half-swastika thing - like an L with an extra bit).
I'm voting 'other' for SCV this year and their box-things and stretchy material on the flag pole.

Large wrenches?

I forgot to ask - who used them?

Carolina Crown used them in 2001. I wasn't sold on them either.

As for your suggestions, I liked the umbrellas and leaf things SCV used in Miss Saigon..... but that's just one man's opinion.

How about the step ladders the Glassmen used in the late 90's? I liked them but they sure seemed to cause an uproar at the time. Maybe it turns out they weren't so bad afterall since nobody is talking about them.

I guess that's it for now. I can't really think of a prop that I really didn't like. Although I don't really care for trap sets on the field but that discussion is for a different forum.

Machine - you misunderstood me. I didn't have a problem with the props I listed (apart from those darn trampoline things ... ).
I've thought of another great won that worked really well:

27 in 83(?) the double skipping ropes. great stuff.

And here's some more I've thought of:

The tunnel with the change of pants - fantastic! (years?)

SCV 86 - suspending the color guard at the end of the show

SCV 87 - making a guard member disappear (or was it 2?)

Worst: 1986 Cavies RAKES for koren folk song with yellow ribbons and even worst guard work with them.

What year did Garfield use Clarinets? ouch that was bad.....

My bad, BAC. Now that I go back and read it again, I don't know why I didn't catch that....

The tires got my vote! I know C. Crown's show was about industry that year but they could have just put the tires in a stack and used real guard equipment.

My 2ยข worth of course!

The umbrellas were in the other era, I believe it was Blue Star. I didn't list it in #2...

SCV's guard used umbrellas/parasols too....maybe in 1983?

Nancy, did you forget about 2-7's jump ropes? That would be a prop Ralph would have thought of!

Nope didn't forget the "double dutch" but pom poms is so bad that I could leave that one out and be forgiven I think!

As far as double dutch ropes, I believe Ralph had nothing to do with them, but could be something he would think of....

Thanks COP, I knew I remembered seeing SCV with parasols and umbrellas!
