In the Springtime, we will hold two or three Band Camps, which consist of a full weekend rehearsal (Friday night through Sunday afternoon). The Band Camps will be announced weeks in advance. After school lets out in June, we add another rehearsal evening on Tuesdays and extend the time until 9:30 PM. This is required due to the complexity of our summer field show program. We may, from time to time, call extra rehearsals on the weekend so that we can prepare for upcoming events. All extra rehearsals will be announced with as much advanced notice as possible.
Our performance schedule is not always consistent, but the great majority of the performances will be on the weekend. We appear in three or four Christmas time parades every year as well as several Spring and Summer parades. We take a couple of over-night trips and often plan a 7 to 16 day performance tour in the summer.
Attendance is critical to the success of The Sound Machine. Every rehearsal, the band is learning something new or preparing for an upcoming performance. Members must be certain that they do not accept other commitments that will conflict with scheduled performances. Roll will be taken at all rehearsals and performances. If the absentee rate is too high, we may have to terminate membership.
