Comments: Madison won with a stellar performance in brass that stands the test of time: it still sounds terrific. Blue Devils were hot on the heels of the Scouts in horns, preparing to make their own run for the championship in 1976. The Santa Clara Vanguard, as you can see above, scored a *perfect* 30.00 in General Effect, a feat which has still not been equalled. Go back and listen to their horns and drums, and you'll see why they scored what they did!!

I can not let the 1975 recaps go by without mention of the Muchachos. As most RAMDers know, the Muchachos competed in prelims that year, and then were disqualified for having an overage member prior to finals. They did not compete in finals. Their prelim score has never been publicly released, but it is probable that they were in the top 3, if not top 2. Their scores in the week preceding DCI Finals showed that they were capable of beating anyone. It will be one of drum corps enduring mysteries, which will probably be debated forever. Muchachos lasted another couple seasons, then folded forever.

It should be noted that Blue Devils improved 6 places over 1974's placement, and that 27th Lancers rocketed back into finals in *4th place* after having missed finals in 1974. The 1975 Lancers show was a classic, a notion that the 27th alumni corps must have agreed with since it was largely 1975's show that they reproduced in Boston in 1994.
